"Black History Month: Where Do We Go From Here?" Calvin Johnson, 7 pm, Sunday, February 25, Sanctuary
Our speaker, Calvin H. Johnson, a member of CSLSR since 2014, presently a member of the Board of Trustees and the One Heart Choir. |
No matter your race or ethnicity, living in our present
times can be both challenging and rewarding. Come to this special Sunday
Evening Service to explore the origins of Black History Month (BHM) and gain
insight into where we all can choose to go, in terms of diversity, from this point.
Black History Month is not only about Black History, nor
only for Black people. It includes all of our histories: past, present, and
future, as CSL Mystics, Americans, and humans. This talk will focus on the origins
of BHM, why its commemoration continues to be important, and how we each can
contribute to the future development of BHM, and the diversity it represents, in
our community.
Since the Center for Spiritual Living Santa Rosa regards BHM as a special commemoration for all
of our community, we are presenting this Sunday Evening Service in the
Sanctuary, rather than the regular Sunday Evening Service in Waggoner Hall.
Please come and help make this event even more special, as we celebrate our diversity
and our community.
